Fossil Stromatolite Pendant
This is a 100% natural and genuine Fossil stone Pendant.  This stone is a Stromatolite, which is one of the oldest forms of fossil known to man.  It is actually one of the very first know types of life form found on the earth.  This is a stone that is older than the dinosaurs, it predates the simple coral fossils, and fish.  It is a form of  iron algae and simple bacteria that covered the earth in the very beginning of life.  You can see the banded layers of brown, black, yellow, and cream colors.  This represents the layers of the algae as it kept covering itself and eventually became fossilized over 1000 million years ago.  This stone just feels magical in the hand, to have a piece of what we all most likely started out from and knowing its age makes this pendant very special for all of us science geeks out there.  This stone has been wire wrapped with 925 Sterling Silver in a secure setting.  This is a perfect polished medium luster stone, that does have some surface characteristics to it with the banding, but very very slight.  It is a beauty of a stone.
The length is just over 1 1/2 inches long, from the top of the bail to the bottom of the stone.  The width is 7/8 inches across the front from side to side, or just over 3/4 inches  The thickness of stone is 6 mm thick, with the bail opening at 6 mm. The total weight of pendant is at 6.8 grams.
By wearing this very first type of recognizable life form, so you would be safe in saying, that a part of our genetic make up had come from this creation of God in the simplest form.  This stone has been used to bring about positive behavior modification in children, it is said to help bring balance between what a person wants and needs each day, and to help them focus on what is most significant for that day.  It has been used to cleanse and purify personal belongings, minerals, environments, and is said to bring good luck to fishermen, divers, and those that explore the ocean.  All fossils are deeply protective, and release their energy in a gentle but potent manner.

Stromatolite, One of the oldest fossil of life
Stromatolites (from Greek stroma, mattress, bed, stratum, and lithos, rock) are defined as "attached, lithified sedimentary growth structures, accretionary away from a point or limited surface of initiation." A variety of stromatolite morphologies exist including conical, stratiform, branching, domal, and columnar types. Stromatolites are commonly thought to have been formed by the trapping, binding, and cementation of sedimentary grains by microorganisms, especially cyanobacteria (formerly known as blue-green algae). However, very few ancient stromatolites actually contain fossilized microbes. While features of some stromatolites are suggestive of biological activity, others possess features that are more consistent with "abiotic" (non-organic) precipitation. Finding reliable ways to distinguish between biologically-formed and abiotic (non-biological) "stromatolites" is an active area of research in geology.
Stromatolites were much more abundant on the planet in Precambrian times. While older, Archean fossil remains are presumed to be single-celled colonies of blue-green bacteria, younger (that is, Proterozoic) fossils may be primordial forms of the eukaryote chlorophytes (that is, green algae). One genus of stromatolite very common in the geologic record is Collenia.
Prior to 2.4 billion years ago, the earth's atmosphere was rich in carbon dioxide. However, the Precambrian air lacked the oxygen that sustains the complex multicellular life that has evolved since the "Cambrian explosion" 540 million years ago. Stromatolites in the fossil record decline sharply in both diversity and number during the late Proterozoic eon, although they are present, but not common, in Paleozoic era strata. Today, stromatolites are quite uncommon in marine environments, and thus are called "living fossils."
Their former abundance may be because there were no burrowing or grazing animals back during the Precambrian to destabilize sediments and consume growing microbial mats, thereby favoring the preservation of these microbialites. Also, changing chemical conditions in the ocean during this time could be responsible for the precipitation of non-biological stromatolites through the growth of tiny crystals.
